چکیده

DEFINITION Network GIS Performance (NGP) refers to the level of Quality of Services (QoS) of a Network GIS. NGP includes both the efficient use of Network GIS resources (CPU, memory, massive storage, geospatial data and geospatial services) and the perception of speed of a Network GIS [1]. Network GIS is a GIS where the geospatial data and geospatial processing are distributed across a computer network [2]. The performance [3] can be broken down into different factors, such as user perceived system response time, system reliability, system extensibility, and system service quota. Different practitioners with different roles for a network GIS have different views of NGP (table 1).

Distributed Artificial Intelligence in Gis -geolet: a Distributed Geo-spatial Information Retriever

The advantages of ‘Distributed GIS’ have long been realised by GIS practitioners and researchers, for its strengths of system flexibility, reliability, scalability, processing efficiency and resources sharing. However, due to the complex network architecture and software structure, current distributed GIS (DGIS) still cannot fully accommodate distributed, heterogeneous and speedy development in...

High-performance computing in GIS: techniques and applications

In this paper, the application of High-Performance Computing (HPC) techniques in processing of geospatial data in Geographic Information System (GIS) is presented. We evaluate two parallel/distributed architectures and programming models: Message Passing Interface (MPI) over Network of Workstations (NoW) and Compute Unified Device Architecture (CUDA) on Graphics Processing Unit (GPU) in well-kn...

A GIS-based Dynamic Shortest Path Determination in Emergency Vehicles

Accomplishing an effective routing of emergency vehicle will minimize its response time and will thus improve the response performance. Traffic congestion is a critical problem in urban area that influences the travel time of vehicles. The aim of this study is developing a spatial decision support system (SDSS) for emergency vehicle routing. The proposed system is based on integration of geospa...

Multiresolution Query Optimization in an Online Environment

Multiresolution (or multi-scale) techniques make it possible for Web-based GIS applications to access large dataset. The performance of such systems relies on data transmission over network and multiresolution query processing. In the literature the latter has received little research attention so far, and the existing methods are not capable of processing large dataset. In this paper, we aim t...
